Household Waste Recycling Centres
North Yorkshire Council County operates 19 household waste recycling centres across the county, with City of York providing a further 3 within the York boundary.
Household Waste Recycling Centres have traditionally been known by names such as ‘the tip’, ‘the dump’ and civic amenity sites but, with the main aim now being recycling rather than simply disposing of rubbish, the name has changed.
A wide range of materials are accepted at the sites and at least half of all waste taken by residents is recycled.
All of the HWRCs in York and North Yorkshire are open every day except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. Opening times vary and can be found at:
